Which new Red Sox will make the biggest impact in 2009?

During the off-season, the Red Sox acquired a number of new players: John Smoltz, Brad Penny, Takashi Saito, Rocco Baldelli, Ramon Ramirez and Junichi Tazawa, to name a few.

I think that John Smoltz and Rocco Baldelli will make the biggest impact in 2009 because they are both very valuable players who have been playing for a while, so they already know how to handle being in the major leagues. I was down in Spring Training and I especially watched them because they are new, and they just blended right in with the team, and they performed really well! I can’t wait to see them in the season!

I think that the additions of Brad Penny and Rocco Baldelli will make the biggest impact on the club this year. Penny, prior to his injury, was a dominate pitcher. If he can regain his form of past years, we could have potential aces in spots 1-4 in our rotation. In Baldelli, you have a great defensive outfielder with great speed. As long as he can stay healthy, he could be a great weapon off the bench. All in all, I think Theo made some great ‘low cost, high reward’ moves this season which could be the difference come October.

John Smoltz and Rocco Baldelli will make the biggest impact because they are 2 players that just fit right in with the rest of the team. They will all make a huge enough impact for us to atleast get to the play offs and hopefully the world series. I am happy to see that we are getting alot of good players.
