Will Dustin Pedroia equal or surpass his 2008 performance in 2009?

Dustin Pedroia has seemingly done it all in his brief major league career, from Rookie of the Year winner and World Champion in 2007 to MVP, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award winner in 2008.

Will Dustin Pedroia equal or surpass his 2008 performance in 2009?

While I think that Dustin Pedroia is capable of anything, I think that expecting him to surpass last year’s success would be asking a lot. Is it impossible? On the whole I think not; he’s a great player and it seems the sky is the limit for him. As long as he turns in another .300+ BA season (and continues his stellar defense) I’m sure everyone will be pleased. And who knows, maybe he can add another World Series title to his expanding collection of trophies and awards.

Although Dustin Pedroia played an exceptional year in 2008, I do believe that he can surpass it. He has gotten so many honors and encouragement that I think he can only get better. So far this year he has been doing pretty well but I am waiting for that burst that is most likely going to come soon enough. I think his prime years are yet to come and I am proud to be able to say that I will have seen him from start to finish.
